With local bond money support, the City of Independence and local performance groups organized to bring their old civic center into the modern age. Renovation of the 1920s Memorial Hall, located in the birthplace of William Inge, includes the 1500 seat auditorium on the second and third floors (with access through a main entry at the top of a berm), and the first floor meeting and conference complex, accessed through a separate entryway.
