West Virginia desired to take advantage of their own artistic resources as an exportable product. Under the West Virginia Parkways Economic Development Authority, the Governor of West Virginia commissioned a unique state facility to promote and market their state's artists, crafts people, and the art and craft product. Located at the Beckley exit on the West Virginia Turnpike, the new facility includes individual demonstration areas for each art and craft type (from painting to pottery to furniture), galleries, sales space, an auditorium that serves performance artists, video links to the demonstration areas, and promotional video presentations of all types.
