Description: Kimball Hall at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln (UN-L) serves as the classroom building and the recital hall for the Glenn Korff School of Music. Jones – Phillips Associates had designed a new facility for the Theatre Department in the old Temple Building and later was part of the team that created the Lied Performing Arts Center as the new University venue for professional productions. Against the other UN-L theatres and those now being built in High Schools, the Kimball Hall Music Facility is making it hard to recruit top Music Majors to UN-L. Simply put, when parents and prospective students see that they had better facilities in High School, their interest in the University of Nebraska shifts to universities with newer more advanced buildings. To get the attention of the UN-L Administration and Board of Trusties, the Music School asked Jones – Phillips Associates to provide a professional evaluation and comparison with current university Music facility standards. The report has been completed, and Jones – Phillips Associates waits to answer any questions from the university officials as the report moves forward.
