Independence Memorial Hall, Independence, Kansas -- BEFORE

 Memorial Hall - Independence, Kansas

With local bond money support, the City of Independence and local performance groups organized to bring their old civic center into the modern age. Renovation of the 1920s Memorial Hall, located in the birthplace of William Inge, includes the 1500 seat auditorium on the second and third floors (with access through a main entry at the top of a berm), and the first floor meeting and conference complex, accessed through a separate entryway.

 RKO Orpheum Theatre/Adler Center Renovation - Davenport, Iowa

Renovation and restoration of a 1930's "Orpheum Circuit" vaudeville theatre into a civic auditorium for touring companies and local performing arts groups.

 Rio Grande Theatre - Las Cruces, New Mexico

Built just as vaudeville was giving way to movies, the Rio Grande Theatre was never equipped with a formal stage and the related support facilities. Based upon a limited 1.5 million dollar state grant, local arts groups planned renovations and stage additions that woudl breathe new life (and function) into this downtown icon. This is the only existing theatre in the United States constructed of adobe.

The renovation and stage house additions to an existing 1930s auditorium will transform it into a modern hall for touring companies and campus/local performing arts groups. this project includes bringing the facility into complete compliance with ADA and providing new administrative support facilities.

 Topeka Civic Auditorium - Topeka, Kansas

Renovation of an existing civic auditorium space which had been designed for stage events at one end and with a center floor for basketball, into a professional community auditorium for both local and "road show" productions. The basement was renovated to provide rehearsal space/support for local performing arts groups.

 Indiana Theatre Restoration - Bloomington, Indiana

Renovation and restoration of a 1920's vaudeville theatre into a civic auditorium for touring companies and local performing arts groups. This locally based effort was coordinated by the Bloomington Area Arts Council. The consortium of local arts groups and the Historical Society returned a performance space that had been abandoned for over ten years to active civic use.

 Omaha Civic Auditorium - Omaha, Nebraska

This is the renovation of an existing civic center that includes an auditorium, arena, exhibition spaces, and meeting rooms. Designed in 1954, this complex is renovated for professional needs in the 1990's. The professional community auditorium is for both local and "road show" productions. The basement was renovated to provide exhibition space and support for local performing groups. the existing arena is home to both Creighton University basketball and a new expansion Central Hockey League team.
