Lake Orion High School, Lake Orion, Michigan

January, 1999

The performing arts center in the Lake Orion High School was completed during 1998. This facility was recognized by the American Association of School Administrators/American Institute of Architects/Council of Educational Facility Planners, International Architecture Jury and has been awarded the Walter Taylor Award for 1999.

From the AASA:

Shirley Cooper and Walter Taylor Architectural Awards

Excellence in educational facilities planning, design, and construction is the criteria for these awards, given to two projects each year.

Established in 1950 and named after the two founders of the Exhibition of School Architecture, an annual event, these awards are co-sponsored by AASA, the American Institute of Architects, and the Council of Educational Facility Planners, International. The judging panel is made up of an equal number of representatives from each organization. Winners receive plaques, which are presented at the annual National Conference on Education.
