Jones & Phillips Associates has completed their new, larger offices. The new facility is located in an historic building originally constructed in 1929 as the Cadillac dealership for Lafayette, Indiana. The sixty-eight foot long clear-span bow trusses that were uncovered during demolition were "Too cool to hide behind a drop ceiling," in the words of Van Phillips.
The new space incorporates many theatrical touches throughout. The overhead pipe grid and complete dimming system provide means for accent and display lighting. The dramatic open span of the trusses is accented using theatrical fixtures.
The building includes a lab and work space for testing theatrical fixtures, examining drapery and seating samples, and other related study.
Additional storage and indoor parking are other perks of the space.
"We have at least tripled our current working space," said Phillips. Additionally, incorporated into the drawings are plans for future expansion into the space remaining at the rear of the building.
