Belinda Long had no theatre or performing arts background when she started at Jones & Phillips Associates. Her life and training had been focused on a career with General Contractors after completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction Management from Purdue University.
As part of Belinda's career preparation she became a LEED Accredited Professional, a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and she holds an OSHA 30 Hour Certification.
Being well aware that the world was focusing more and more on sustainable design and that the issues faced daily in the contractor's site trailer were substantially different from those experienced by theatre designers, Jones & Phillips Associates lured Belinda to their team. Faced with the typical pressures of life and family and project demands far from home, Belinda joined the firm with offers of more flexible hours close to home, and the chance to coordinate multiple projects at once.
From the first moment Belinda arrived it became clear to everyone that she brought skills and assets offered by no other Theatre Planning and Consulting firm in the United States. Quickly she became the constant voice and contact point for project contractors as the consultants travel the world for meetings. She has even helped our architectural and engineering clients explore ways to take advantage of subtle changes to assist in forming a more sustainable LEED qualified design product.
